Beginner Open

The Beginner Open is designed to serve as the Season-Ending Championship for the Beginner Division. Players in the Beginner Division who feel that they may be ready to participate in the 9-Hole Division (at the Club or Open level) have the option to participate in this competitive event. As the championship for the Beginner Division, players must compete in at least two beginner events during the Summer Series to be eligible.

Caddies are allowed and the 10-shot maximum rule will remain in effect. However, all players will start from the same starting tee (no shotgun start) and awards will be given to the top finishers in each age group. If you are considering a move to the next level, you are strongly encouraged to participate in this event. The field is limited to the first 60 players to register.

Qualifications for Entry

  • All participants must be current GJG members with a Beginner Division Membership and play in two Beginner Division events.

Club Championship

The Club Championship is conducted at the end of the Summer Series. All 18-Hole Club Division players will compete in a 36-hole competition over two days, while 9-Hole Club Division players will compete in an 18-hole competition over two days playing nine holes each day. The field is comprised of the top 9-Hole and 18-Hole Club Division players from each division. This competition is designed to ready those players who desire advancement to the Open Division.

The top three players in each age group of the 9-Hole Club Championship will earn exemptions into the 9-Hole Classic, the 9-Hole Open Division season-ending championship held the following week. The top three players in each age group of the 18-Hole Club Championship will earn exemptions into the Grand Championship, the 18-Hole Open Division season-ending championship also held the following week.

Qualifications for Entry

  • Players qualify on points (all ties for final spots in each age group qualify)
  • Club Division players placing first in their respective age groups in three or more Summer Series events, during the current year, and have neither a NS nor a NC
  • Special invitation from GJG
  • All participants must be current GJG members with a Premium Membership and have participated in at least five Atlanta Junior Golf Tour Summer Series events during the current year

9-Hole Classic

The 9-Hole Classic is conducted at the end of the season at one of Atlanta’s premier golf courses. The field is comprised of the top 9-Hole Open Division players from each of the 9-Hole Open Division age groups. This two-day, 18-hole competition (9 holes each day) is designed to ready those players who desire advancement to the 18-Hole Division.

Qualifications for Entry

  • Previous year’s 9-Hole Classic champions, if still competing in 9-Hole Open Division
  • Previous year’s Players of the Year from the 9-Hole Open Division currently playing in the 9-Hole Open Division
  • 9-Hole Open Division players who placed first in their respective age groups in three or more Summer Series events, during the current year, and have neither a NS nor a NC
  • Top three finishers in each division of the 9-Hole Club Championship
  • Remaining players qualify on points (all ties for final spots in each age group qualify) events, during the current year
  • Special invitation from GJG
  • All qualifiers must be current GJG members with a Premium Membership and have participated in at least five Atlanta Junior Golf Tour Summer Series events during the current year

Grand Championship

The Grand Championship is typically contested the last week of July. The field is comprised of the top junior golfers in each age group from 18-Hole Open Divisions (including the 18-Hole 12 & Under Division). Winning this highly competitive 54-hole championship is one of the most coveted titles of the year.

Qualifications for Entry

  • Defending overall Grand Champion(s) and age group winners
  • Previous year’s GJG Players of the Year from the 18-Hole Open Division
  • 18-Hole Open Division players who placed first in their respective age groups in three or more Summer Series events, during the current year, and have neither a NS nor a NC
  • Top three finishers in each division of the 18-Hole Club Championship
  • Remaining players qualify on points (all ties for final spots in each age group qualify) events, during the current year.
  • All participants must be current GJG members with a Premium membership and have participated in at least five Atlanta Junior Golf Tour Summer Series events during the current year

Field Composition

The field composition is dependent upon the total number of players in each age group. The Georgia Junior Golf Championship Committee reserves the right to issue special invitations that may include players who have not otherwise met the qualification requirements. Double points are awarded to the top finishers.

Georgia Junior Golf Challenge Match

The Georgia Junior Golf Challenge Match, formerly known as the GSGA Junior Sectional Challenge Match, is an annual competition among teams of junior golfers from six Georgia Junior Golf Tours (Coastal Georgia, East Georgia, Middle Georgia, North Georgia, South Georgia and West Georgia). Juniors qualify to represent their home Tour in the event by earning points in the Georgia Junior Golf one-day events held by the six Tours listed above.

The Georgia Junior Golf Challenge Match is a two-day individual and team competition. Players compete for individual prizes within their age group. Players also earn points for their home Tour and the Tour with the most points wins the team competition. The Boys 10 & Under and Girls 13 & Under divisions play 9 holes each day of the competition. The Boys 11-12, 13-14 and 15-18 and Girls 14-18 divisions play 18 holes each day of the competition.

Players MUST reside in Georgia to be eligible to compete in this tournament.
